Alright, since those flaming me have had their posts removed too, I'll let it go as well.
Thanks.

I've trudged through all 441 (so far) posts in this thread, and this point was only raised once...I feel it's important enough to warrant further discussion.
Asking for a rollover mechanic so that we can keep our current characters' progress poses a serious hindrance to any sort of advancement to be made in this hypothetical GW2. We don't even know that the same ten professions will exist in that game; it's ludicrous (and extremely dull, I might add) to make a sequel that's more or less identical to what we already have.
As a side note, I'm a little saddened by this talk of new playable races. People already whine and carry on about not being able to change their hairstyle...I can't imagine the endless complaints when someone wants to become a new species (dolphinplasty, anyone?).
Finally, let's address the idea of the Charr inhabiting the supposedly-arctic north. Has everyone forgotten that they take double damage from cold sources? Doesn't make much sense if you ask me.

I get the sense that all of this talk of the fourth chapter and Guild Wars 2 is being taken a little too seriously. So far, the only information that we have to go on is strictly rumor. Nothing has been officially announced by ANet, so all these matters should be taken with a with a grain of salt. I don't to be a buzz kill or anything, but remaining skeptical will prevent this whole debacle from ending in tears.

That wouldn't make much sense indeed.
But, who said the north of Ascalon would be cold? The Shiverpeaks are West and South-west of the Ascalon area. If you'd go North-east from Ascalon, you might find alot of ember-carrying charr looking to burn all things they encounter
All speculation, off course...

10 more heros. so does that mean the ppl who buy this game will also have hero battles? doesnt sound fair to me. like ab, it should only be in 1 game.
P.S. More heros will make the pugs even worse

More heroes cannot make PUGS worst, Its not like the limit of heroes is being changed, just the number of heroes you can choose from. I spent an hour reading through the pages and im rather glad were getting a gw2, hopefully though with a rollover mechanic

I hope if there is a GW2, there is jumping added. Just because one of my idiot WoW friends can't come up with a good reason to hate GW (the real reason is because he can't apply himself long enough to enjoy the storyline), so he always says "ZOMG JOO CANT JUMP LOLZORZ!!111oneone!1" and other engine limitations like "NO SMALL INTERIORZZ!!".
EDIT: Just realized something. What if GW2 (again, if it comes out) will be so awesome it costs a monthly fee? :\ One of the main reasons I got GW was for the lack of such!

Question: If GW2 is set hundreds of years after of GW1, will you still be able to take your old characters to the new area or will it be a whole different game?

I'm not subscribed to PC Gamer. As such I must wait a half of month longer to read and buy the issue in stores, and get my mini pet? (April 3rd) Did I read that right?

I see "a few hundred years" as still medieval. We can visit Adelbern's Monument and stuff, maybe?
It's unlikely they won't include the original professions, though they may narrow them down (like warrior will be split into paladin and berserker? XD but that seems like it just narrows down replayability and variety of builds). I mean come on. What game doesn't have a warrior, or a healing spellcaster, or a ranged attacker? Even in multiplayer FPSes they find ways to still implement these classic classes.
Oh, and if you look at the site the article is on, they show this odd image. Is this anywhere in the game? If this is supposed to be a screenshot of GW2, or a rendering, it just makes the article seem even FAKER. The article says how GW2's graphics will be up to date, making them superior to any current MMORPG (I don't want it to be as strong as Oblivion is now, though). That screenie looks like a GW1 screen, maybe with slightly higher resolution textures and scaling to create an illusion of 900x AA.

So the magazine comes to non-subscribers a half month later? Does anyone happen to know how accessible it is to get the magazine in Australia? Cause if it has info about new GW and a new minipet offer, I'll be tempted to buy it. I'm assuming I have to special order it to get it, and I'm assuming that I have to wait for it to hit shelves in the US, so any info on dates of that happening would be much appreciated.

Yes. Although we don't know that subscribers will get it right away either, it could be like with the Gray Giant where we have to buy the next campaign first.

Well it will use a separate game engine when it does eventually come out (and it will at some point no matter how true or false this particular article is) there is no telling if you will be able to transfer characters.

To be honest, I'm not too bothered about character transfers. As long as there is some evidence that the character existed (like a little personal hall of fame, showing all your titles, your xp, etc) I'd be happy. I mean, the characters are supposed to be heroes, and should be remembered as such.

Well if GW's is truely a classic it should be able to withstand 2 yrs without new content. Yes the player base will go down but since it's not a pay to play game, A.net is really loosing revenue. With smaller player base they can prob. scale back their servers. For a non pay to play game, a lost in player base isn't going to be that bad as long as it's a good game and people will buy the sequel when it comes out.
Look at diablo and starcraft. See how many people are still waiting for the next installments in those and they haven't had a sequel for much longer than two years. I'm sure if diablo 3 or starcraft 2 came out, they'll still be top sellers.
Look at the gap between doom 2 and doom 3 or half life 1 and half life 2. Still a later number of people bought the sequels despite the long gap.
